Actors Joo Jong-hyuk and Joo Hyun-young will reunite as a married couple in a new drama.
According to a July 2 JTBC Entertainment News report, Joo Jong-hyuk has been cast in TVING’s new original drama Sseoning Baseball Club. Joo Hyun-young had already announced her appearance in the same project, and the duo’s fresh on-screen chemistry is drawing major buzz.
Sseoning Baseball Club follows husbands who worry more about their wives’ reactions than the score, competing every weekend in a tongue-in-cheek “Wife-Permission League.” The series comically portrays ordinary married men who rediscover their true selves through amateur baseball—an extra-innings-free “life league” that aims to deliver big laughs and deep relatability.
Reportedly, Joo Jong-hyuk plays Sang-wook, a husband six months into a fiery newlywed life. Joo Hyun-young takes on the role of his wife, Joo-a.
The two consider themselves a perfect match, but as a rookie couple they run into very real, everyday hurdles. In the story, bolstered by brutally honest advice from senior married friends, Sang-wook returns to the baseball field he once quit—and hits a turning point in his life.
Notably, Joo Jong-hyuk and Joo Hyun-young both starred in ENA’s Extraordinary Attorney Woo. In that drama, Joo Jong-hyuk’s character Kwon Min-woo shared an ambiguous “something” with Choi Su-yeon (played by Ha Yoon-kyung), while Dong Geu-ra-mi (played by Joo Hyun-young) nursed a one-sided crush—leaving the love line unfulfilled. If they become a married couple this time, it could finally soothe that lingering frustration for fans.
Meanwhile, the much-anticipated Sseoning Baseball Club starring Joo Jong-hyuk and Joo Hyun-young is slated to premiere on TVING in the second half of 2027.
