Actor Byun Woo-seok has partnered with the Seoul Independent Film Festival 2025 to support independent film production.
The Seoul Independent Film Festival announced on the 24th that it is launching this project to support the passion of talented creators alongside Byun Woo-seok. This project, titled 'SIFF X Byun Woo-seok: Shorts on 2025', aims to support three short films through a competition running from October 10 to 24.
This initiative comes as calls grow for a renewed future in Korean cinema. The 51st Seoul Independent Film Festival has received the highest number of submissions in its history, showing a vibrancy distinct from commercial films, thereby highlighting the importance of independent films.
Since 2009, the Seoul Independent Film Festival has continually supported independent films, and this project is set to be a practical one-stop program linking independent film production, screening, and distribution.
The theme for submissions is 'love', and a total production budget of 30 million won will be provided to the selected works. Byun Woo-seok will personally participate in the judging, and there will be mentorship from Bareun Entertainment and collaboration with a supervising producer. The completed works will be screened and distributed through the Seoul Independent Film Festival.
Meanwhile, the Seoul Independent Film Festival 2025 is scheduled to be held from November 27 to December 5, and the final selections will be announced at the 51st Seoul Independent Film Festival.
