Travel creator KwakTube has revealed the story behind his proposal.
On the 30th of last month, on the YouTube channel of former webtoon artist and broadcaster Chimchakman, KwakTube appeared alongside creator Tongdak Angel, who is Chimchakman's younger brother, to share various stories.
KwakTube said, "My girlfriend has no desire for material possessions, which is the exact opposite of me," and mentioned, "A proposal is something you suggest, and since I already proposed marriage and you accepted, isn’t that the end of it?" He then shared his thoughts on the proposal while laughing, adding, "Since we've already booked the wedding venue, I thought I had already proposed, but deep down, I felt like 'I need to do it.'"
While contemplating how to propose, KwakTube sought advice from actress Ryu Hyun-kyung. He explained, "She said that a classic approach is the best. I felt that popping balloons or lighting candles felt too much like the vibe from 'The Great Chang-Hyang,' so I decided to keep it simple."
To prepare for the proposal, KwakTube got flowers from a famous florist starting at dawn, personally inquired about brands popular among women in their 20s and 30s, and prepared a luxury necklace and a letter to propose to his partner.
When asked about his feelings afterward, KwakTube remarked, "My girlfriend cried. I didn’t cry, but I thought it was understandable that she would." He then joked, while Chimchakman praised, "That’s very romantic. Surprising her after saying you wouldn’t propose is quite clever."
Meanwhile, KwakTube is set to marry his 5-year-younger civil servant girlfriend on the 11th in Yeouido, Seoul.
