Broadcaster Hong Jin-kyung shared her experiences of facing death three times, showing both laughter and tears.
On the 13th, Hong Jin-kyung posted a video on her YouTube channel detailing her journey to meet comedian-turned-writer Ko Myung-hwan in Tongyeong. During the video, she unveiled dramatic moments she had never deeply shared with anyone.
Hong stated, "I really almost died three times," as she cautiously began to speak. The first crisis unexpectedly occurred in a steam room. After falling asleep in the hot steam, she nearly reached a state of unconsciousness. "If I hadn't woken up when someone called me in my dream, it could have been the end," she recalled the situation.
The second crisis was during her well-known battle with ovarian cancer. She candidly confessed that the treatment process, which lasted for two years after her diagnosis in 2013, was so hard that she wanted to give up everything.
The third crisis happened while she was traveling in Japan with her daughter. Hong stated that as she was about to cross the street with her child in her arms, she stepped out looking only to the left as usual, only to have a vehicle narrowly pass by from the right. She remarked, "If I had been just a moment quicker, it would have been a serious accident," reflecting on the eerie silence of that moment.
As she continued her story, Hong revealed tears amidst her laughter. When her companions asked, "Does a person change after going through three brushes with death?" Hong, with her signature honesty, joked, "Well, not really," laughing again.
Meanwhile, Hong Jin-kyung married a businessman five years her senior in 2003 and welcomed her daughter Rael in 2010. However, she ended her 22-year marriage by divorcing her husband last August.
