Former After School member and actress Nana (real name Im Jin-a) is still in the spotlight for subduing an armed intruder at her home along with her mother and reporting the incident to the police. A lawyer's advice regarding the situation is also drawing attention.
On the 17th, lawyer Park Sung-bae appeared on YTN and stated, "A man in his 30s entered Nana's home armed with a knife, but he was subdued after a struggle with her and her mother." He added, "It is quite rare for female victims to subdue an intruder during a physical confrontation."
Online, Nana's assertion that she holds a 4th-degree black belt in a martial art is generating buzz as well. Lawyer Park commented, "We don't know how well-equipped she was, or if she had confidence from being a martial artist, but it seems she might have been more proactive because her mother was present."
However, he added, "We don't recommend that victims actively engage in situations like this."
Meanwhile, on the 15th around 6 AM, a man in his 30s, identified as A, broke into Nana's home in Achun-dong, Guri City, armed with a knife. He threatened Nana and her mother, demanding money, and a struggle ensued. Ultimately, Nana and her mother subdued A and immediately reported the incident to the police. During this confrontation, both Nana and her mother sustained injuries, while A was arrested on charges of attempted special robbery.
The police believe A entered the residence after confirming that a door was open while scouting for a target and are reportedly reviewing the case to determine whether self-defense can be recognized in relation to A's injuries.
