Former national speed skating representative Lee Sang-hwa shed tears during a surprise event commemorating her husband, singer and broadcaster Kangnam's sixth wedding anniversary.
On the 20th, a video featuring the couple was uploaded to Kangnam's YouTube channel. In the video, Lee Sang-hwa and Kangnam are seen enjoying a same-day dessert trip in the Yamanashi region of Japan. However, behind all of the scheduled activities was a secret plan that Kangnam had prepared without Lee Sang-hwa's knowledge.
As soon as they arrived at the last cafe of the dessert tour, Kangnam played a video he had prepared in advance. Completely taken by surprise, Lee Sang-hwa exclaimed, "What is going on?" but soon realized it was a planned event.
The video contained a narrative of their history, including their meeting and marriage. Then, a letter written by Kangnam appeared. He recalled Lee Sang-hwa's journey from her childhood to becoming a national representative, writing, "You followed your dreams and worked hard, shining a light on Korea at the Olympics." He continued, "Because of the happiness I learned from you, I am who I am today," and expressed his gratitude by saying, "The moments spent with precious ones are the happiest times in my life."
Throughout the video, tears streamed down Lee Sang-hwa's face. She kept wiping her tears, saying, "I'm getting emotional," and was further touched when her mother, sister-in-law, older brother, and niece appeared in the video.
Meanwhile, the couple, who got married in 2019, is still enjoying a sweet married life as of now.
