Model-turned-TV personality Hyun Young candidly shared the newlywed conflicts she had with her husband, saying there was a moment she even considered divorce.
On Dec. 3, singer K.Will uploaded a video featuring Hyun Young on his YouTube channel. When K.Will asked, "Is there anything you nagged your husband about and then gave up on?", Hyun Young laughed and said, "My husband has given up on a lot when it comes to me, but I haven't given up on anything." She explained that her husband is a total neat freak. The bedspread has to be folded perfectly, and there can't be a single drop of water left on the sink. In the end, when they did their interior, they split the bathroom into two separate vanities—his and hers. They even use separate nail clippers and ear picks, she added with a laugh: "He just tells me, 'Don't touch my stuff.'"
The story then turned to a clash from their early days of marriage. "I'm the kind of person who's happy to start the day by lining up my skincare and slathering on this and that," she began. But one day after work, she came home to find all her cosmetics gone—only to discover that her husband had swept them into a shopping bag and hid the bag in the bathtub.
Looking back, she admitted, "He didn't throw them away, but the fact that he stuffed my precious cosmetics any which way and hid them in the tub really hurt my pride. I honestly thought we should get divorced." She added that she now understands the situation: her husband had repeatedly asked her to tidy up, and when she didn't listen, he finally snapped and put everything away himself.
Hyun Young also opened up about the strain of education costs as a working mom of two. "Just our two kids' education runs into the 100-million-won range. I haven't bought anything for myself in years," she said. "There are things I started on the side without telling my husband. With separate accounts, we're trying to shoulder things fairly and support the kids as much as we can."
Hyun Young, who debuted through the SBS Super Elite Model Contest in 1997, married her husband, a finance professional, in 2012. They have a son and a daughter.
