Singer and TV personality Kangnam shocked fans by revealing he lost 20 kg (about 44 lbs) — and he credits steady running and webtoon artist/entertainer Kian84 for the transformation.
On the 30th, a new video on Kian84's YouTube channel featured Kangnam and his wife, Olympic speed skating legend Lee Sang-hwa, as Kian84 visited their home and spent the day with the couple.
As soon as they met, Kangnam asked, "I lost weight, right?" Kian84 replied, "You lost a ton. You look really handsome," clearly stunned by the change. Lee Sang-hwa added, "It's all thanks to him," giving full credit to Kian84 for getting Kangnam into running.
Kangnam revealed, "When I first met you, I weighed 89 kg. Now I'm 69 kg — exactly 20 kg down," drawing attention. He achieved the weight loss by running with Kian84's running crew. Hearing this, Kian84 joked, "That's why Sang-hwa likes me. I made you run, you lost weight, and now you're handsome," grinning with satisfaction.
Lee Sang-hwa said frankly, "He was always handsome to begin with — losing weight just made his features pop." But she didn't sugarcoat how it was before. When she said, "I hated seeing him eat and lie down right away," Kangnam laughed, "She used to be so cold back then, but she's really warm these days. The difference is huge." Kian84 chimed in, "To be honest, he did look kind of rough when he was chubbier," making everyone burst into laughter.
Kangnam's mother also made a surprise appearance, saying, "Sang-hwa and I told him to lose weight for five years, and he never listened," and thanked Kian84 for the change.
Kangnam married Lee Sang-hwa in 2019 and continues to share everyday moments and married life with fans through YouTube.
