Director Kim Han-min's new epic Kal: Godumakhan-ui Geom is making waves with a blockbuster cast confirmed: Park Bo-gum, Joo Won, Jung Jae-young, Lee Sun-bin, and Kim Hyeong-seo. Set right after the fall of Goguryeo in 668, the film follows a man who loses his memory, is enslaved, and dives into a brutal gladiator tournament built around a legendary sword—unleashing a sweeping historical action saga.

Park Bo-gum takes the lead as Chilseong, a warrior with no memories who fights to survive as an enslaved gladiator before awakening as a national hero. Joo Won co-stars as Gaepilharak, Chilseong's cold, razor-sharp rival.

Jung Jae-young plays Heuksugang, the leader of the Goguryeo Restoration Army and the mentor who forges Chilseong into a true warrior. Lee Sun-bin appears as Maya of the Restoration Army, while Kim Hyeong-seo portrays Injeong, Heuksugang's daughter.

From the mastermind behind War of the Arrows, The Admiral: Roaring Currents, Hansan: Rising Dragon, this long-planned project taps cutting-edge AI technology to unveil a fresh style of gladiatorial swordplay where the martial arts and tactics of 16 tribes collide. Director Kim teased, "Kal: Godumakhan-ui Geom will showcase a powerful, distinctly Korean world set in the chaos after Goguryeo's fall," adding, "Expect a new film that will captivate audiences across Asia and around the globe with uniquely Korean material."

Meanwhile, Kal: Godumakhan-ui Geom is gearing up for full-scale production, aiming for a summer 2027 premiere.
