Actress Lee Min-jung candidly revealed the "parenting philosophy gap" between her and husband Lee Byung-hun, sparking a relatable debate among parents about real-life couple dynamics.
On the 27th, parenting expert Choi Min-jun—often called the "idol of boy moms"—appeared on Lee Min-jung's YouTube channel to share practical advice on raising sons. In the video, Lee openly discussed the conflicts she faces while raising her fourth-grade son.
The biggest sticking point was their different approaches to food. Lee said, "I try to let my child blow off some steam through food so they don't feel stressed," adding, "But sometimes my husband asks, 'Why would you give a kid fried foods?'" She continued, "When he scolds our child, he wants me to take his side and scold him too. But I learned that if both parents gang up with one voice, the child can feel even more intimidated."
Choi responded with a balanced take: "It sounds like you two have been reading different parenting books. But frankly, neither approach is wrong." When he asked, "Is Dad the type to be very strict with your child?" Lee replied, "He doesn't really scold. But his voice is naturally so deep that people around us get startled even when he just calls our son," laughing as she shared.
Regarding Lee Byung-hun's voice, Choi said, "At that tone, a child may be startled, but it's not to the level where discipline turns scary," and advised, "As long as he's not being menacing, Mom doesn't always need to step in or stop it." He added, "Moms care for their kids every day, so it's instinctive to intervene. But it's also important to leave room for Dad—a space where only he steps in and engages."
Meanwhile, Lee Min-jung married Lee Byung-hun in 2013. They have one son and one daughter.
