BLACKPINK’s Rosé experienced a bittersweet night at the Grammy Awards, leaving without a trophy while K-pop creators achieved a historic first.

On the 1st (local time), the 68th Annual Grammy Awards were held at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Rosé and Bruno Mars’s collaboration Apartment (APT.) was nominated but ultimately did not win in Record of the Year after also missing out on Song of the Year and Best Pop Duo or Group Performance.

Rosé made history as the first female K-pop artist to receive nominations in three major Grammy categories in a single year. However, Billie Eilish’s WILDFLOWER won Song of the Year, Kendrick Lamar’s luther took Record of the Year, and Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo claimed Best Pop Duo or Group Performance for Defying Gravity.

Despite the results, Rosé still marked a milestone by becoming the first K-pop soloist to perform on the Grammy stage, delivering the opening performance of the ceremony and earning a standing ovation from attendees.

In contrast, K-pop achieved a historic breakthrough through Golden, an OST from the Netflix animated film K-Pop Demon Hunters, which won Best Song Written for Visual Media. The award honors songwriters, and the Grammy was awarded to EJAE, TEDDY, 24, and AIDIO, making this the first Grammy win for K-pop composers and producers.
