Moon Ga-young's latest donation isn't just a one-time act of kindness—it's delivering tangible results and reshaping a local community.

On the 5th, her agency Peak J Entertainment announced that Moon donated 50 million won (proceeds from her essay collection 'PATA') to the international relief organization Cointree.

Cointree stated that thanks to Moon's continued support, a women's self-reliance project in a shantytown in Tulum, Mexico, along with children's medical and hygiene initiatives, is showing remarkable progress.

According to Cointree, her donation went beyond tuition assistance and was strategically invested in building a "self-reliance system" that helps local women secure stable jobs and achieve financial independence. In particular, single-mother households—once at risk of breaking apart under the weight of living costs—have built a foundation for self-sufficiency, yielding real improvements in daily life, the organization explained.

The funds also addressed the area's most urgent issue for children: poor sanitation. Cointree built new school restrooms to replace aging facilities and established an emergency response system so kids don't miss critical treatment windows.

Han Young-joon, CEO of Cointree, praised Moon's approach to giving, saying, "She's a leader-type donor who thinks through the right way to use donations until the very end," adding, "She has driven structural change that can transform a woman's life and save a child's life."

Moon's goodwill has struck a chord with international fans, who have started their own donation relay. It's a rare case of one person's positive influence spreading across the global community.

Meanwhile, the film Once We Were Us, starring Moon, is on the verge of surpassing 2.4 million moviegoers, while 'PATA' continues its hot streak with a 10th print run.

Following last year's 100 million won donation to Ewha Medical Center, Moon's ongoing acts of generosity continue to set an example for many.
