Rapper Swings personally addressed and shut down the swirling rumors that he had azoospermia.
On the March 9 broadcast of the SBS variety show Unbelievable, Swings appeared as a guest and chatted with Tak Jae-hoon, Lee Sang-min, Lee Su-ji, and Kai.
Joking with Swings, Tak Jae-hoon said, "You're good at everything, but there's a rumor you don't have any sperm." Swings then explained the context behind the rumor: "About eight years ago, I decided I wouldn't have children, went to the hospital, and got a vasectomy."
Swings shared that he was close to being staunchly non-marriage at the time. "In my early thirties, I decided, 'I don't need kids. If I'm going to live unmarried, I should make it certain,' so I had the surgery," he said.
But over time, his mindset changed. "Around the year before last, maybe because of hormonal changes, kids suddenly started to look adorable to me," he admitted. "It's not that I want a baby right now, but my mind changed." He added that he subsequently underwent a vasectomy reversal.
He also shared a behind-the-scenes moment from the procedure. "The surgery position was incredibly embarrassing," Swings said. "I was hoping all the nurses would be male, but they were all women." He added with a laugh, "Before the surgery they said, 'I'm a fan,' and after it ended they even asked for my autograph."
Swings opened up about how he felt during the post-reversal testing. "We checked the results right at the hospital, and the doctor said, 'I can see about eight sperm,'" he recalled. "They told me it would be hard to conceive with that, so it hurt my heart."
He said he put the issue out of his mind for about a year after the surgery. Recently, he went back to a different hospital for another test—and the results had changed. "I got tested at another hospital two months ago, and they said my sperm count had increased a lot," Swings explained. "There's no need to worry now."
As for why he chose to go public, Swings said, "When I mentioned this briefly before, people kept teasing me, calling it azoospermia and even comparing me to a seedless watermelon." He added, "I wanted to clear up that rumor properly."
