The Netflix animated film KPop Demon Hunters (hereafter "KDH") is set to have its theme song 'Golden' ring out at the Academy Awards.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) announced via its official social accounts on the 10th (local time), "Huntrix fans, it's time to light up your lightsticks," adding, "I-Jae, Audrey Nuna, and REI AMI, the vocalists of Huntrix, will perform 'Golden' on the 98th Oscars stage."
The performance will open with a fusion segment blending traditional Korean instruments and dance, honoring the folkloric elements and cultural inspirations of KDH. Then the three Huntrix vocalists—I-Jae, Audrey Nuna, and REI AMI—will take the stage to sing 'Golden'.
Executive producers Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan described 'KPop Demon Hunters' as "a film that has ignited a global pop-culture frenzy." The film is nominated in two categories at this year's Academy Awards: Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song.
Meanwhile, 'KDH' already picked up wins at January's Golden Globes and last month's Grammys, heightening expectations for an Oscar victory. The ceremony will be held on the 15th at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles (LA).
