Comedian Kwak Beom is set to deliver big laughs with a wave of spot-on impressions and unexpected talents.
The March 11 episode of MBC’s variety show Radio Star features actors Jin Seo-yeon, Geum Sae-rok, Joo Jong-hyuk, and Kwak Beom in a special themed around their many talents.
Kwak reveals he’s busier than ever, with as many as 12 regular programs including his own YouTube channel. He also shares how he came to juggle TV and YouTube, jumping into a wide range of content.
He fires up the studio with his specialty: celebrity voice impressions. Mimicking stars like Lee Kyung-young, Jung Woo-sung, and Lim Chang-jung, he keeps the laughs coming. He also brings up an unexpected past episode surrounding his Jang Hyuk impression, explaining why it was once considered a “banned” bit, raising even more curiosity.
Kwak further reveals a story involving traditional singer Song So-hee. After a past parody video of Song nearly landed him in legal trouble, he says he received leniency after meeting her in person and talking it out. Ahead of this Radio Star appearance, he even got her permission to prepare a related impression, heightening anticipation.
He also unveils a surprising background: he majored in painting at an art university and once handled the artwork for a comedy sketch himself. In the studio, he draws an on-the-spot caricature that impresses the MCs. Kim Gu-ra reacts with satisfaction, saying, "I could use that as my memorial portrait."
On top of that, Kwak shares behind-the-scenes stories from when he took the KBS comedian open audition. He talks about taking the test four times, why the third try stung the most, and the lighthearted journey that led to his debut as a comedian.
From impressions to caricatures to YouTube, Kwak Beom’s many charms will unfold on Radio Star, airing March 11 at 10:30 p.m.
