DKB sparked buzz by candidly revealing the unglamorous reality of idol life behind the stage.
On March 10, the YouTube channel Human Story featured DKB as they opened up about dorm life, intense practice sessions, and their music-making process. Ahead of performances, the members trained with an intensity that mirrored a real stage. They said, "Even if it’s just one song, we go in determined to completely command the stage," showing a highly professional mindset.
But behind the glitter of idol promotions lies a tough reality. E-Chan shared, "I get by on about 20,000 won (around $15) a day for food." He added, "If I had chosen this job for money, I wouldn’t have been able to do it. The returns aren’t big compared to the time and effort we invest."
Yuku also explained that the team still hasn’t reached its break-even point and therefore hasn’t received settlements. "Only after earning several times what the company invested does income come back to us, and we haven’t reached that stage yet," he said.
They also spoke about the gap between childhood expectations and reality. Heechan said, "When I was young, I thought becoming an idol meant living a glamorous life, flying everywhere." E-Chan admitted, "I often feel empty. When there’s no schedule, it can feel like I can’t do anything."
DKB expressed deep gratitude to their fandom BB. The members said, "Our fans’ support gives us huge strength," adding, "Even if we were born again, we’d still choose to be DKB," underscoring their trust in one another.
Meanwhile, DKB is a group under Brave Entertainment. Since debuting in 2020, they have steadily continued their music activities, earning support from K-pop fans in Korea and abroad.
