KATSEYE, the group presented by HYBE and Geffen Records, clinched major honors at a Japanese music awards show, once again proving their presence in the market.
On the 11th, according to the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ), KATSEYE was named "New Artist of the Year" in the Western Artists category at the 40th Japan Gold Disc Awards. They also made the list for the "Best 2 New Artists" category, taking home two trophies in total. The members said, "We are truly grateful to the fans who love and support our music," adding, "We want to return to Korea and Japan to create even more special moments."
Launched in 1987, the Japan Gold Disc Awards are organized by the Recording Industry Association of Japan and determine winners based on physical sales, digital downloads, and streaming metrics.
Since debuting, KATSEYE has steadily expanded its Japanese fanbase. In 2024, they visited Japan on their Asia promotion tour, then hit the stage at the large-scale 'Summer Sonic' festival in Tokyo, performing their hits and winning over local crowds.
Meanwhile, KATSEYE is set to perform at the 'Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival' in the United States this April, continuing their global activities.
