The title of the upcoming season of KBS2’s music talk show ‘The Seasons’ has sparked mixed reactions online.

On March 11, KBS announced that the ninth season of the program will premiere on March 27 under the title ‘The Seasons: Sung Si-kyung’s Eardrum Boyfriend,’ with singer Sung Si-kyung serving as host.

Producers explained that performers introduced as “eardrum boyfriends” and “eardrum girlfriends” will appear on the program each week. Sung Si-kyung has previously been associated with the nickname “eardrum boyfriend” because of his ballad performances.

After the title was revealed, some online users criticized the wording, suggesting that the term “boyfriend” felt outdated or unsuitable given the host’s age.

Others responded that the title simply reflects Sung Si-kyung’s well-known nickname as a ballad singer.

‘The Seasons’ is a music talk show that introduced a rotating host system beginning in 2023. Previous hosts have included Jay Park, Choi Jung-hoon, AKMU, Lee Hyori, Park Bo-gum, and 10CM.
