Model-turned-TV personality Hong Jin-kyung sparked laughter with a tongue-in-cheek remark about her daughter Rael, saying, "I’d love to send her to the Marines."
On the 12th, Hong’s YouTube channel uploaded a video from comedian Nam Chang-hee’s wedding. Attending as a guest, Hong chatted with Gree — the son of comedian Kim Gura — about the Marine Corps.
Asking Gree, who completed his Marine service, about military life, Hong said, "It’s already been a year and six months. Time really flies." Gree recalled, "From the moment you enlist, they make you fix your posture, and the training is really tough," sharing his experience.
Continuing the conversation, Hong suddenly brought up her daughter: "Should I send Rael to the Marines too? Can women join?" When Gree answered, "It’s possible, but they’d have to be career soldiers," Hong replied, "I want to make her a professional soldier. I’m serious," sending everyone into laughter.
Gree added, "If you go to the Marines, you can’t even film TikToks." Hong joked back, "Please, I’d love to exile her somewhere like that. Having Rael join the Marines is truly my dream." Gree then quipped, "The Marines are a crucible that remakes people."
Meanwhile, Hong’s daughter Rael is currently studying in the United States. Recent photos shared on social media went viral, stirring a photo-editing controversy and sparking plastic surgery rumors. In response, Hong released before-and-after images and clarified, "It’s all because of photo retouching."
