Former 4Minute member and singer Jeon Jiyoon has revealed she is now active as a web novel author.
Recently, the YouTube channel Jjindeurui Page uploaded a video featuring Jeon Jiyoon as a web novel author. "I used to be active as a singer, but I'm now working as a web novel author," Jeon said, drawing attention. She continued, "I had kept the fact that I write a secret, so I was surprised when I got the casting call," adding, "This is my first time appearing on a show as a web novel author, so I'm excited."
She also shared that she's an avid reader of web novels. Citing the web novel Solo Leveling as her gateway into the genre, she recalled, "Even while traveling, I was so curious about the next chapter that I once went back to my hotel to read it." Jeon highlighted the medium's charm: "With web novels, readers can imagine and interpret things differently, so there's a fun, immersive experience."
Jeon confessed that she's been interested in writing since she was young. "Back in school, I wrote fan fiction and passed it around among friends," she said. "That experience sparked my interest in writing."
She also explained how she became a web novel author. "After reading for a while, I thought, 'Maybe I should try writing, too.' I applied to a government-run creative academy and was accepted," she said. "I was selected as an outstanding student there, which led to signing an author contract." She added that she currently writes under a pen name and has not revealed her identity.
Meanwhile, Jeon Jiyoon debuted with 4Minute in 2009 and promoted with the group until 2016, earning widespread public love.
