Actor Lee Jae-ryong was forwarded to prosecutors after allegedly crashing into a median in central Seoul while driving under the influence and fleeing the scene.
On the morning of the 18th, Seoul’s Gangnam Police referred Lee to prosecutors without detention on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act, including DUI, leaving the scene after an accident, and obstructing a breathalyzer test.
Around 11 p.m. on March 6, Lee allegedly hit a central divider while driving under the influence near Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam District, then fled without taking any measures. He was arrested around 2 a.m. the next day at an acquaintance’s home, where his blood alcohol concentration measured at license-suspension level (0.03–0.08%).
Investigators say that before heading to the acquaintance’s home after the crash, Lee joined another drinking session, raising suspicion of an “after-drinking” tactic to conceal his intoxication at the time of the accident. He initially claimed he had not been drinking but later acknowledged the suspicion during police questioning.
Lee previously had his license revoked following a DUI incident in 2003. In 2019, he was also given a deferred prosecution after damaging a signboard while intoxicated.
