As singer Sung Si-kyung steps in as the new host of KBS2’s music talk show The Seasons, the show wrapped its first recording amid a growing debate over its subtitle, 'Eardrum Boyfriend'.

In a newly released behind-the-scenes video from the poster shoot, Sung addressed the title head-on. Laughing, he admitted, "Maybe we went a little too hard," and shared that there had been plenty of speculation about the name. He added, "I just wanted it to be funny," explaining that the concept could expand depending on guests — to 'Eardrum Girlfriend' or even 'Eardrum Group'.

Still, reactions online remain split. Unlike previous seasons that pulled titles from the host’s signature songs or image, some say 'Eardrum Boyfriend' feels outdated. Comments like "It’s hard to take as a joke" have fueled calls to change the title. Others argue the backlash is overblown, keeping the debate alive.

Amid the controversy, the program successfully completed its first taping. Singer Lee So-ra drew major attention as the debut guest — her first TV appearance in about six years. Leveraging her long-standing connection with Sung Si-kyung, the pair reportedly showed effortless chemistry, delivering a duet stage with musical synergy and guiding the room with thoughtful, in-depth conversation.

Several other artists also joined to round out a packed premiere. The Seasons rotates a new MC each season, and this marks the show’s ninth run.

Meanwhile, The Seasons: Sung Si-kyung's Eardrum Boyfriend is set to premiere at 10 p.m. on March 27. All eyes are on whether its music and talk segments can win over viewers despite the divisive title.
