Actors Won Ji-an and Chae Jong-hyeop are reportedly teaming up for a historical romance—news that is already stirring major buzz among K-Drama fans.
According to reports from News1 and The Fact on the 20th, the two are set to star in the webtoon-based drama Nameless Lantern.
Nameless Lantern follows twin sisters born to share the fates of a king and a traitor. Against a backdrop of tragic destiny, they defy the odds to write a new chapter of history in this historical drama.
Chae Jong-hyeop is reportedly cast as Grand Prince Okryun, Lee Hyo, the king’s second son. A fierce warrior who relishes martial arts, he’s skilled enough to earn battlefield merit at a young age. As a grand prince adept in both pen and sword, he will drive the show’s tension—while also unfolding a romance with the female lead. This marks Chae’s first leading role in a sageuk, signaling a striking transformation from the soft image he showed in previous romance and youth dramas.
Won Ji-an is also highly likely to make her first foray into sageuk. Since her debut in the 2021 Netflix series D.P., she has steadily built her filmography with Squid Game Seasons 2 and 3, Disney+’s Made in Korea, and JTBC’s Surely Tomorrow. With this project, she’s expected to broaden her acting spectrum yet again.
Meanwhile, Nameless Lantern plans to kick off full-scale production after locking in its main cast.
