‘Phantom Lawyer,’ starring Esom and Yoo Yeon-seok, is exploding in popularity overseas.
The SBS Friday–Saturday drama Phantom Lawyer (hereafter ‘Phantom Lawyer’) has been officially invited as a KOCCA on Screen@Udine special screening title at the 28th Far East Film Festival in Udine, Italy, this April. The festival is Europe’s largest showcase dedicated to Asian content, and the newly established standalone section by the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) paved the way for this invitation.
‘Phantom Lawyer’ is being praised for spotlighting the show’s originality and Korean sensibilities, powered by Yoo Yeon-seok’s “possessed” performance. Playing a “possessed lawyer” who speaks for wronged souls, Yoo delivers gripping immersion that’s set to leave local audiences in awe of a K-actor’s nuanced craft.
Since its early episodes, the drama has drawn an explosive response, peaking at 11.3% nationwide ratings (Nielsen Korea) to top its time slot. The production team shared, "The way Phantom Lawyer naturally blends Korean sentiment with fantasy was recognized on the international stage, thanks in large part to Yoo Yeon-seok’s complete command of his character and emotional depth. We hope the series can move and resonate not only with domestic viewers but also with global audiences."
Meanwhile, ‘Phantom Lawyer’ airs every Friday and Saturday at 9:50 p.m. KST.
