Shocking confession: Actor Park Sung-woong is laying bare the psychological pressure and lingering aftereffects he has suffered after years of playing ruthless villains.
Set to air on the 26th, the KBS2 variety show Problem Child in House features Park, who opens up about the hidden struggles behind his label as a "villain specialist." He even reveals that after shooting scenes involving knives, the psychological pressure became so intense he caught himself thinking, "What if I end up hurting someone?"
That anxiety bled into his daily life. Park admits he became so sensitive that he asked his wife to remove every knife from their home, and he eventually sought counseling from a psychiatrist on his own. "I went to the hospital on my own," he says, detailing the steps he took to overcome the aftereffects and drawing sympathy.
He also talks about his family. Currently living in Seoul’s Daechi-dong, Park has a son attending an international school with plans to study abroad for college. "I told my son it’s okay even if he doesn’t study well because I didn’t want him to feel pressured," Park shares, showing the side of a doting father. But when his son took those words at face value, Park’s unexpected reaction sparked laughter.
Park further reveals an episode in which he shed tears while disciplining his son, showcasing his deep paternal love. Contrary to his intense on-screen image, he presents a warm, family-first side that highlights a different kind of charm.
Park Sung-woong’s candid confessions and human side can be seen on Problem Child in House at 8:30 p.m. on the 26th.
