Shocking transformation: Actor Kim Gun-woo revealed he intentionally gained weight to flip his image, drawing buzz with a much softer look.

On the March 24 broadcast of SBS variety show 틈만 나면, actors Yoo Jun-sang and Kim Gun-woo appeared and chatted with Yoo Jae-suk and Yoo Yeon-seok. Yoo Jae-suk said, "It’s been almost 10 years since I last met Yoo Jun-sang on a variety show," expressing how happy he was to reunite. Yoo Jun-sang joked back, "Why didn’t you invite me sooner?" sparking laughter.

First impressions of Kim Gun-woo also became a hot topic. When Yoo Jae-suk remarked, "It’s my first time meeting you, and you look so kind in real life, totally different from your image in The Glory," Kim candidly explained why his appearance has changed.

"I think it’s because I recently put on a little weight," Kim said. "I gained about 4–5 kilograms (roughly 9–11 pounds)." He added, "People around me kept saying I look better after filling out a bit." Asked whether the fierce image of Son Myeong-o—the role he played in The Glory—influenced his decision, he agreed.

It appears Kim is deliberately shifting away from the intense villain image of his past work to present a gentler, friendlier vibe. On the show, his more relaxed demeanor and mild charm stood out and caught viewers’ attention.
