Singer-actor Sungjae Yook of BTOB opens up about an incident from his rookie days and lays bare his heartfelt love for his family.
On the March 27 broadcast of MBN and Channel S variety show Moo No Plan: Season 3, Hyun-moo Jun and Jun-bin Kwak visit a famed eatery in Yongin with BTOB members Eunkwang Seo and Sungjae Yook.
The restaurant was personally recommended by Eunkwang Seo. He introduces it by saying, "It’s where I go with my family on special days," drawing attention. Upon arrival, Sungjae Yook also shares, "I remember coming here with the members," expressing his delight.
Over the meal, the talk naturally turns to family. When Hyun-moo Jun asks how he spent his first paycheck, Sungjae reveals, "I got my first earnings at 21 and bought my mom a gift," warming hearts. He adds, "For the first two to three years after debut, I lived on my parents’ credit card, and that weighed on me, so I wanted to do even more for them," showing his filial devotion.
As the vibe loosens up, Hyun-moo asks about dating during his idol days. When asked if he ever received a direct message (DM) from a female celebrity, Sungjae pauses, then makes a surprise confession: "Back in my rookie days, I did get messages from older girl-group seniors." He continues, "There were moments when I thought, 'Someone like that is interested in me?'" heightening curiosity.
Sungjae’s full story airs March 27 at 9:10 p.m. KST.
Meanwhile, BTOB, who debuted in 2012, recently returned as a full group after two years and ten months with the new song 'We Again'.
