The Born Korea CEO Baek Jong-won looked back on the past year he says was lost.

On the 31st, at a startup briefing venue in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, The Born Korea held its 32nd annual general shareholders' meeting. Attending in person, Baek declared, "We will make this year the starting point for our leap into a global, full-scale food company."

In particular, Baek said, "Although we effectively lost a year due to forced complaints and reports filed by several groups last year, this year we'll work to make The Born Korea more advanced for our franchisees, customers, and shareholders." He also explained that with most allegations now dismissed with no charges, the company is only now beginning the business activities it couldn't carry out last year.

This year, while strengthening the fundamentals of its franchise operations, The Born Korea is ramping up collaboration in key hubs across North America, Southeast Asia, and Europe, centering on its global B2B sauce business. To that end, the company has appointed an outside director with extensive global experience and carried out an organizational reshuffle.

Meanwhile, Baek married actress So Yoo-jin in 2013. Also active on variety shows, Baek went viral worldwide through the Netflix series Culinary Class Wars.
