Actor and singer Kim Nam-gil laid bare his honest views on dating.
On April 2, Kim appeared on actor Uhm Ji-won’s YouTube channel, where the close friends played a “balance game” about dating styles — and he revealed his personal preferences.
When asked to choose between someone who quietly takes care of you versus someone who shows affection openly, both chose the former. After Uhm said, “Over-the-top displays make me feel pressured,” Kim agreed: “If it’s too obvious, it actually makes me uncomfortable.”
On how he flirts, Kim admitted, “I don’t really know about that. I’m not the type to make the first move.” He added, “Even if I’m interested in someone, instead of suddenly approaching them, I prefer getting closer naturally after meeting a few times and talking.”
As for his ideal type, he prioritizes shared values and tastes over looks. Kim emphasized, “These days, it’s more important that we have similar food preferences, a compatible sense of humor and conversation style, and shared interests than just appearance.”
Kim, who debuted in 1999 with the KBS2 drama School, is gearing up for the release of the film Dream Journey to the Peach Blossom Land.
