Actor Kim Hyung-mook takes the spotlight with a string of lively anecdotes, ranging from behind-the-scenes stories on the film ‘No Other Choice’ to unexpected personal connections.
The April 8 broadcast of MBC’s variety show ‘Radio Star’ features Kim Soo-ro, Um Ki-joon, Park Gun-hyung, and Kim Hyung-mook in a special titled ‘Men Who Live With King Soo-ro.’
Looking back on filming director Park Chan-wook’s movie ‘No Other Choice,’ Kim shared a memorable moment. While acting alongside Lee Byung-hun and Son Ye-jin, he recalled that Lee—deeply immersed in his role—directed harsh lines at him in character, creating a moment that drew laughter on set.
He also revealed an unexpected outcome from a previous ‘Radio Star’ appearance. After the episode aired, singer-producer Park Jin-young reached out to him directly. Kim said, “Thanks to that, I became a successful fan,” and explained how it eventually led to him being selected as a judge on a Stray Kids-related variety program.
The stories continued with his current drama ‘Recipe For Love.’ Kim added more humor as he shared how he and Choi Dae-chul, often dubbed the ‘Park Bo-gum of weekend dramas,’ formed what they jokingly called the ‘BTS of weekend dramas.’
He also spoke about filming ‘Bon Appétit, Your Majesty.’ Initially appearing as a special cameo, he found himself facing unexpectedly demanding scenes and shared how the widely talked-about “absurd mukbang” sequence came together, drawing laughter from the cast and crew.
