Actor Ryu Hyun-kyung drew attention after candidly opening up about marriage.
On April 7, travel creator KwakTube's YouTube channel featured Ryu Hyun-kyung. While traveling around Jeju with the KwakTube couple, she was asked about marriage and said, "I do plan to get married. I've wanted to for a long time."
Ryu also personally cleared up a misunderstanding that had spread after a past broadcast. During her appearance on TV Chosun's variety show Huh Young Man's Food Travel, she said, "My mom tells me not to get married." According to Ryu, that line was blown up into headlines and cemented an image that she was "against marriage." She added with a wry laugh, "As that story spread as if it were fact, it felt like my path to marriage was blocked." She then emphasized, "In reality, my mother does not oppose marriage and actually supports me."
Ryu also spoke honestly about her ideal type, saying she likes an independent person who builds their own life without leaning on others. At the same time, she carefully admitted, "At this point, I sometimes wonder if it's okay to meet someone new."
Born in 1983 and now 43, Ryu Hyun-kyung debuted in 1996. After appearing together in the 2016 play 'Almost, Maine,' she and actor Park Sung-hoon — known for his role in Netflix's 'The Glory' — began dating but broke up in 2022.
