Comedian Yoon Jung-soo's wife, Won Ja-hyun (now known as Won Jin-seo), confessed the reason behind her break from broadcasting.
On the 8th, during the broadcast of TV Chosun's variety show 'Lovers of Joseon', a segment featured Yoon Jung-soo introducing his wife. "It’s not that I was trying to keep it a secret, but I wanted to let people know when my future wife felt comfortable. It seems that time is now," he said, presenting her.
In an interview with the production team, Yoon Jung-soo expressed his affection for his wife, stating, "The person I’m marrying received a lot of hate comments while she was active in broadcasting 10 years ago. That must have been tough for her. It’s something every broadcaster experiences." He added, "When I was alone, I could just bear with it, but now we’re together, so I worry about such things. She hasn’t had to deal with that for over 10 years, so I do wonder if she’ll be okay with it," he remarked.
Won Ja-hyun introduced herself in the interview, saying, "I used to greet people as Won Ja-hyun for sports broadcasts. Now, please call me Won Jin-seo," as she introduced her name change. She continued, "It’s been about 6 years since I last appeared on air. 2019 was the last time."
Discussing her painful past, Won Ja-hyun said, "Before I became known from the Guangzhou Asian Games, I worked a lot more: from being a reporter for current affairs programs to in-house announcer. However, once I gained recognition from sports broadcasts, it became difficult to adapt. Articles were sensationalized, which placed a lot of pressure on me and caused me stress." She further explained, "I felt a huge burden due to the stress. Eventually, I had to quit broadcasting due to depression," sharing the reasons she stopped her career. Yet she added, "Thanks to Yoon Jung-soo, I found the courage to return to broadcasting," praising her husband.
Yoon Jung-soo described his wife's charm, saying, "She is pretty and can be frugal. She even suggests using the subway to save on parking fees," making him smile. Toward the end, he reflected on his past experience of going bankrupt with a debt of 3 billion won, saying, "Thanks to my wife, my spending habits have changed."
The couple first met as a radio DJ and a guest. Even during the times they lost contact, Won Ja-hyun said she found comfort in listening to Yoon Jung-soo's radio shows. She remarked, "Thanks to the radio that made me laugh during tough times, I became brighter. I was very happy when he reached out to me again," speaking about their continued connection.
Meanwhile, the couple has already registered their marriage and will hold a wedding ceremony on November 30 in Gangnam, Seoul.
