Even before its premiere, a drama already buzzing for its fashion and visuals has grabbed future viewers' attention again.
On the 1st, the team behind MBC's Friday-Saturday drama Perfect Crown revealed the character styling concepts for Seong Hee-joo (played by IU) and Grand Prince Ian (played by Byeon Woo Seok).
Describing Seong Hee-joo, IU said, "She's a chaebol heiress who draws eyes and headlines wherever she goes, very much a celebrity type. We built her around CEO-ready suits and a razor-sharp part, but we also intentionally broke TPO rules with bold colors, statement dresses, and playful mixes like jeans with red sneakers to try a wide range of looks."
Speaking about Grand Prince Ian, Byeon Woo Seok shared, "We started from the premise that royalty has continued into the modern day, aiming to blend a developed era with traditional beauty in harmony." He added, "I tried pieces on with the costume team to spark ideas, and I actively offered input during production to bring the constitutional monarchy setup to life."
Through character-specific styling, the two actors deepen the show's unique worldbuilding and are set to showcase a spectrum of looks worthy of the nickname "wannabe royal couple."
Meanwhile, Perfect Crown is set in an alternate South Korea where a constitutional monarchy still exists. It tells a status-defying romance between a woman born into a chaebol family but living as a commoner and a king's son who, despite his title, can't have anything. The first episode airs on the 10th at 9:40 p.m.
