Casting shake-up: As the KBO season opened last week, reports surfaced that actor Park Hoon is stepping in for baseball superfan Jung Sung-il in SBS's new baseball drama Full count, which is racing to begin filming in April.
According to YTN Star on April 1, Park Hoon has been offered a role in SBS's upcoming drama Full count.
In the series, Park Hoon is expected to play the Stars' pitching coach Jo Dong-hee, teaming up with Kim Rae-won, who portrays Hwang Jin-ho, a Stars coach serving as acting manager. Jung Sung-il had reportedly been in talks for the part but ultimately dropped out due to various circumstances. With the shoot imminent, PD Ham Joon-ho—who worked with Park Hoon on Payback: Money and Power—is said to have quickly reached out to cast him.
Reacting to the news, fans commented, "It's a shame—baseball diehard Jung Sung-il would have been a perfect fit—but we're excited for Park Hoon too."
Meanwhile, Full count is set in the world of professional baseball, spotlighting the fierce competition among coaches, and is slated to start filming in April.
