The band DAY6 revealed that they received only 3,600 won as their first settlement amount.
In the tvN variety show 'You Quiz on the Block' airing on the 10th, DAY6 reflects on their 10-year journey as a team.
MC Yoo Jae-suk begins by stating, "When they debuted, they didn’t receive the same love that they have now." Dowoon laughs and adds, "I thought that as an entertainer, I would be greeted with cheers of 'Wow, DAY6!' right after debuting, but instead, I felt pitiful as no one even recognized us."
Sungjin shares, "I think our first settlement amount was around 3,600 won. Back then, cup noodles cost about 600 won. I thought if I saved up, I could eat six cups a month. As the leader, I thought about asking my parents for extra allowance to buy food for the others."
Prior to gaining popularity with songs like 'You Can Be My Page' and 'You Were Beautiful', DAY6 faced a nearly four-year hiatus from group activities due to health recovery, COVID-19 restrictions, and members' military enlistments. Wonpil expresses his concerns saying, "Of course, there were moments of anxiety. If I said there weren't any, it would be a lie given our circumstances at the time."
Dowoon admits, "Honestly, I was really struggling. While my older brothers were taking breaks, I had nothing to do. Playing the drums wasn’t even fun anymore,” revealing his inner thoughts.
Wonpil recalls that during those tough times, he shared with the members, "We will meet again someday, DAY6 must continue, we can’t just stop. It would be such a waste for us." He adds, "So don't worry, we're doing well. Even if things don't go well... the memories of the past ten years..." as tears fill his eyes. Young K smiles through his tears, saying, "We will be happy. We will really be happy."
