Actor Byun Yo-han shared his thoughts ahead of the local premiere of the first long feature film utilizing AI, 'Between Worlds'.
At the media preview of the film held on the afternoon of the 13th at CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall in Yongsan, Seoul, actors Byun Yo-han, Kim Kang-woo, Bang Hyo-rin, Lim Hyung-jun, and director Kang Yoon-seong attended.
'Between Worlds' is an action blockbuster that depicts the chase between people trapped in the intermediate world between life and death and the reapers trying to extinguish their souls. Directed by Kang Yoon-seong, known for hit films such as 'Fine: The Village Idiots', 'Casino', and 'The Outlaws', it draws attention as the first long feature film to extensively utilize AI technology.
Byun Yo-han plays the role of Lee Jang-won, part of the National Intelligence Service's International Criminal Information Center. He expressed, "As this is the first domestic feature film using AI, I felt excitement and tension coexisting." He added, "While the actors create human emotions and rhythms, the expressions created by AI in interactions with the creatures were very intriguing."
Regarding his experience with AI technology, he stated, "I feel that AI can only exist with human imagination and creativity. In the end, the film industry is a battle of time and capital, and in that regard, AI can be an efficient tool."
He also mentioned, "This screening feels like attending a scientific hearing. It feels like I've completed an experiment and am now witnessing the results," showing a smile. He continued, "I have pondered a lot about how AI will be utilized in the film industry and to what extent it can surpass human domains."
Meanwhile, 'Between Worlds' is set to be released on the 15th with a runtime of 1 hour.
