Artist BUMKEY honors the legacy of the late Wheesung by remaking his classic hit.
On the 30th, BUMKEY released a new track where he reinterpreted Wheesung's song "I’m Missing You" from his second album "It’s Real". This project was conducted with the official consent of Wheesung's bereaved family and holds deeper meaning as it encapsulates BUMKEY's respect and nostalgia for Wheesung.
The remake emphasizes maintaining the essence of the original while adding a contemporary vibe and BUMKEY's signature delicate vocals to create a new resonance. BUMKEY has previously collaborated with Wheesung on the duet "How Much Is Love", establishing a musical connection. Due to his deep affection for the original, he reportedly heightened the emotional density during the re-singing process.
In related news, his agency BrandNew Music stated, "BUMKEY put a lot of thought into incorporating his own interpretation while not compromising the musical world of Wheesung," calling it a product infused with a sense of responsibility and respect for the R&B soul genre.
Meanwhile, Wheesung debuted in 2002 and left behind a legacy of many hits including "Can’t You?", "Insomnia", and "I Thought About Marriage". He passed away in March this year at the age of 43.
