Boohwal leader Kim Tae-won shocked viewers by revealing he raked in 100 million won in first-quarter copyright royalties thanks to IU’s viral remake of 'Never Ending Story'.
On the March 22 broadcast of KBS 2TV’s variety show Boss in the Mirror, where he appeared as a special MC, Kim shared updates on Boohwal’s 40th anniversary and his royalty earnings. He singled out his signature hits 'Never Ending Story' and 'The More I Love' as steady royalty powerhouses.
IU’s remake of 'Never Ending Story' had an especially massive impact. Kim revealed that 100 million won flowed in just for the first quarter after her remake, drawing major attention. He even sent IU a video message: "Good to see you, friend. Thank you."
Meanwhile, to celebrate Boohwal’s 40th debut anniversary, the band is set to release their 14th full-length album—their first in a decade—with the title track 'Wind in the Sails', marking their official return. The MCs were full of praise after hearing the song.
