Director Yeon Sang-ho, who proved the potential of ultra-low-budget films with his movie Face that attracted 1 million viewers with a budget of 200 million won, continues his challenges with his new project Paradise Lost.

On the 24th, the distributor CJ ENM announced, "Director Yeon Sang-ho's new film Paradise Lost will crank in early next month." The film will be produced by Wow Point, the company founded by Yeon, and actress Kim Hyun-joo, who has worked with him in previous projects Hell, Seonsan, and Jeong-i, will star.

According to the industry, Paradise Lost will be produced in a similar way to Face, minimizing the number of shooting sessions and crew size. However, the production cost is reported to be around 500 million won, slightly increased for personnel costs, but this amount has not yet been finalized.

Director Yeon Sang-ho achieved a miraculous success with his previous work Face, which was completed with 20 staff members and 13 shooting sessions, generating box office revenues of 11 billion won. The film attracted significant attention in the industry, having been invited to the Toronto International Film Festival and drawing 1.07 million domestic viewers.

Many are curious to see if Paradise Lost can create another 'ultra-low-budget box office miracle' for director Yeon Sang-ho and establish itself as a sustainable Korean-style production model.
