Actor Shin Hyun-been is set to showcase a boldly original world and a dramatically expanded acting range through the film Colony.

On the 7th, the team behind director Yeon Sang-ho’s new film Colony unveiled character stills of Gong Seol-hee, played by Shin Hyun-been. Colony follows survivors isolated inside a locked-down building during a mysterious outbreak as they battle infected beings that evolve in unpredictable ways.

Shin transforms into Gong Seol-hee, a biotechnologist who fights to identify and resolve the cause of the outbreak that erupts at the Dunguri Building. When she loses contact with her husband after he enters the Dunguri Building, Seol-hee accepts an offer to join a special investigation team to probe the incident. The newly released stills capture her shift from everyday normalcy to combing through an enigmatic laboratory after the crisis, and even a tense phone call with a grave expression — revealing how the unknown outbreak upends her life.

Having built a distinctive filmography with range — from the grounded, warm resident she portrayed in Hospital Playlist, to the strong, principled character in Reborn Rich, and the deeply internalized emotions of Revelations — Shin Hyun-been is poised to push her spectrum even further in Colony.

Even the still cuts alone are igniting buzz among moviegoers, with reactions like "Dr. Jang Gyeo-ul’s shocking transformation" and "A brand-new side of Shin Hyun-been is coming."

Meanwhile, Colony is slated for a theatrical release this May.
