Shocking box office feat: Director Jang Hang-jun's film The King's Warden has officially surpassed 16 million admissions in South Korea, cementing its mega-hit status.

Distributor Showbox announced on the 5th that, as of that morning, cumulative admissions for The King's Warden topped 16 million. This ranks third among all domestic releases, behind The Admiral: Roaring Currents (17.61 million) and Extreme Job (16.26 million). At the current pace, it could overtake Extreme Job for the No. 2 spot, putting the leaderboard on notice.

Released in February, the film hit 10 million viewers in just 31 days and crossed 15 million in 60 days. While its speed has eased slightly, momentum remains strong: weekday admissions hold steady at roughly 30,000–50,000, and more than 150,000 moviegoers are still flocking to theaters on weekends.

Box office revenue is also hitting record highs. As of the 6th, the cumulative gross has surpassed 155.3 billion won.

Meanwhile, The King's Warden portrays the final chapter of the deposed King Danjong (Yi Hong-wi), who spent his last days in exile in Yeongwol, Gangwon Province, living among villagers. Actors Park Ji-hoon and Yoo Hae-jin deliver compelling performances.
