Broadcaster Cho Se-ho candidly revealed that he is receiving treatment for mental health.
On the 26th, psychiatrist Lee Kyung-jun appeared on the tvN variety show You Quiz on the Block and explained how the depiction of panic disorder in the JTBC drama The Story of Manager Kim Working at a Large Company is similar to real cases.
Lee Kyung-jun pointed out that "around the 50s, multiple losses related to work, health, and relationships often occur at once," and noted that many who appear calm on the outside often seek help for anxiety or panic symptoms. He highlighted that it is common for individuals experiencing severe depression to downplay their condition by saying, 'I am not depressed,' as acknowledging depression triggers the fear that 'my life seems like a failure.'
After hearing the psychiatrist's explanation, Cho Se-ho hesitated briefly before carefully stating, "So I don't hide it." He confessed, "I go to the hospital and take medication," adding, "There are many things to worry about while working. At first, just opening the hospital door was terrifying." However, he expressed that he gathered the courage by thinking, "If I receive treatment, I might be able to live healthier."
In response to Cho Se-ho's remarks, psychiatrist Lee Kyung-jun nodded and emphasized the need to shed the prejudice surrounding psychiatric treatment for middle-aged individuals, stating, "It is time to make choices for your own comfort."
