Singer and TV personality Kangnam says his recent nose job came with a curveball side effect: people stopped recognizing him in public.
In a video posted to his YouTube channel on Dec. 2, Kangnam opened with a whirlwind life update, saying, "I've been exhausted lately. I finally slept properly at home for the first time in a month."
Fresh off a widely praised "glow-up" after rhinoplasty, Kangnam admitted he shot his shot for a pictorial. "I saw comments saying I look more handsome, so I reached out to a director noona I know and suggested we do a pictorial. Usually magazines contact you first, but this time I made the first move," he said with a laugh.
But there was an unexpected downside. "While doing the Hanil Top 10 Show, I used to be popular with older viewers, but after the nose surgery, no one recognized me at the market. Such a bummer," he joked. "I guess I have to build my name recognition back up, so it's grind time again."
Showing up to the shoot unshaven, Kangnam also opened up about his beard complex. "This awkward beard really stresses me out. It grows like a goat's. I booked a laser treatment, but the doctor said it would hurt a lot, so I bolted," he said. "I hate pain. Even just shaving makes me look like a celeb," he added, cracking up the set.
Toward the end of the video, viewers get a glimpse of Kangnam holding onto his trademark candor and humor through a tiring schedule as he powers through the pictorial shoot. Fans chimed in with comments like, "Now I get why Lee Sang-hwa keeps him on a diet" and "All dressed up, he looks fire."
