Comedian Kim Soo-yong collapsed from cardiac arrest but miraculously recovered — and then cracked everyone up with a joking threat to "sue" the colleagues who saved his life. Now back to daily life after a brush with death, he retold the frantic moments and the behind-the-scenes stories he later heard, all with his trademark humor.
On the 14th, the YouTube channel Jodongari released Kim's first shoot since he was revived after collapsing from cardiac arrest last month. He calmly recounted everything from the moment he regained consciousness in the ICU to the anecdotes he heard afterward.
Kim Yong-man said, "Soo-yong made it, but during the CPR his ribs broke, and people were saying 'we should sue,' so Lim Hyung-joon was shaking." He added, "There was even talk about how much to claim per rib, and people asked who held down his tongue," sharing the absurd yet funny aftermath.
Kim Soo-yong added, "I got a text from Lim Hyung-joon. He said he'd heard I was going to sue over the rib injury and asked for leniency," drawing laughs. "They said Kim Sook ordered the CPR, so I said I'd just sue Kim Sook," he joked. She was also named as the person who held his tongue, but Kim Sook denied it, saying she "wasn't an accomplice."
But the situation at the time was anything but light. On the 13th of last month in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi Province, Kim suddenly collapsed during a YouTube shoot and went into cardiac arrest due to an acute myocardial infarction. Kim Sook, Lim Hyung-joon, other colleagues, and his manager immediately performed CPR, and paramedics responded swiftly, preserving the golden window. After being transferred to a hospital and treated, Kim moved from the ICU to a general ward and was discharged following sufficient recovery.
Ji Suk-jin said, "It's a relief we can even joke about it now," adding, "If we'd been even a little late, it could have been disastrous." Kim Yong-man agreed: "Because he survived, we can sit here laughing about it."
