Even after SHINee member Key released an official statement, reactions remain icy.
On the 17th, Key addressed for the first time the controversy surrounding the so-called 'Injection Auntie' and alleged illegal medical procedures.
SM Entertainment stated, "Key visited a hospital in Seoul's Gangnam District where Ms. Lee worked after a recommendation from an acquaintance and initially believed she was a doctor," adding, "He received treatment at home on several occasions." This effectively acknowledged that he received unauthorized treatment outside a medical institution. However, they claimed he did not know she was not a licensed doctor.
Key also posted on his Instagram account, saying, "I sincerely apologize for causing concern to so many people." He added, "I was confused and flustered, and I'm sorry I couldn't share my stance sooner or clarify how I would move forward more quickly."
Despite his attempt to quell the controversy, fans don't seem ready to forgive. Netizens reacted, "So he finished the concerts, made all the money, and only now responds," "Now I see why the statement was late," and "Of course, he speaks up right after the tour ends."
Meanwhile, fellow SHINee member Onew was also swept up in the 'Injection Auntie' controversy. Regarding this, he said through an official statement on the 11th that his "hospital visit was for skincare purposes."
