SEVENTEEN’s agency has announced an aggressive legal crackdown on malicious content targeting the group.
On December 29, PLEDIS Entertainment released an official statement via fan platform Weverse, reaffirming its “hardline legal response policy” against false rumors, defamation, insults, and the spread of malicious content involving SEVENTEEN.
The agency reported that in one case involving false allegations of illegal activity, investigative authorities concluded that criminal defamation had occurred and referred the matter to prosecutors. “We will not tolerate any act that damages the artists’ honor and social reputation,” PLEDIS stated, adding that it will not consider settlements or leniency.
Regarding overseas cases, PLEDIS revealed that a U.S. court granted its Section 1782 application in November, allowing the company to identify the operator of a malicious X account that repeatedly posted defamatory content. The agency said it will pursue accountability through a U.S. law firm.
PLEDIS also addressed leaks of unreleased content, confirming that a perpetrator was found guilty of trade secret disclosure and received a finalized fine. “Leaking confidential materials is a clear criminal act that severely harms both the artists and our business,” the agency warned.
Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN is set to meet fans across four Asian cities in February and March 2026 as part of SEVENTEEN WORLD TOUR [NEW_] IN ASIA.
