A surprising omission has sparked backlash after tvN’s newly released 20th-anniversary montage failed to include its highest-rated drama of all time, Queen of Tears.

The official tvN Drama YouTube channel recently unveiled a commemorative video celebrating the network’s 20-year history. Framed as a retrospective of tvN’s most defining titles, the montage carried the message, “Our twenty years, the countless joys we shared within that time. In 2026, look forward to an even more exciting tvN on its 20th anniversary.”

The video highlighted major hits such as Guardian: The Lonely and Great God, Lovely Runner, My Mister, Reply 1997, and Hospital Playlist, along with variety staples including Grandpas Over Flowers, Three Meals a Day, You Quiz on the Block, Earth Arcade, and Youn’s Kitchen.

However, viewers quickly pointed out what they felt was a glaring absence: Queen of Tears, starring Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won. The drama holds tvN’s all-time ratings record, with its finale reaching 24.9 percent nationwide according to Nielsen Korea.

Online reactions ranged from disappointment to speculation. Comments included, “How can the No. 1 drama be missing?” and “At least one scene of Kim Ji-won should have been included.” Others argued that not every title could be featured.

Some netizens speculate the omission may be connected to Kim Soo-hyun’s ongoing private-life controversy. His agency has denied the allegations and stated it is pursuing strong legal action, with the matter currently in legal proceedings.

Despite the speculation, many viewers say the complete exclusion of Queen of Tears—given its cultural impact and popularity—feels especially conspicuous.
