SEVENTEEN's main vocal duo Dokyeom and Seungkwan are aiming straight for the winter feels with a classic ballad comeback.
On January 8, PLEDIS Entertainment dropped the highlight medley (aka "harame") for their first mini album 'Soyagok' via the HYBE Labels YouTube channel and SEVENTEEN's official social media.
True to the album's title, which means "songs of love sung at night," the video captures a city after sundown while previewing snippets of every track on the record.
The title track 'Blue' paints the moment when two hearts fall out of sync—emotionally and in pace—through a heartrending harmony. Simple yet resonant piano and a sweeping orchestral arrangement fuse with Dokyeom and Seungkwan's powerful, emotive vocals, promising the ultimate winter ballad. Two rooms symbolizing a "temperature gap in feelings" visually underscore the song's theme of "love walking at different paces."
Dokyeom's solo 'Rockstar (DK Solo)' blends retro synths with a bouncy guitar line for an instant refresh. Seungkwan completes his solo 'Dream Serenade (SEUNGKWAN Solo)' with delicate emotion and a lingering afterglow. Both artists participated in writing and composing their solo tracks, elevating the album's quality.
Another B-side, 'Guilty Pleasure,' captivates listeners at once with an alluring mood, offering a different charm from the title track 'Blue' thanks to its sleek lyrics and stylish sound. 'Silence' is a pop ballad that explores the emptiness after a breakup, marked by layered instrumentation and striking emotional detail. 'Prelude of Love' delivers the thrill of budding feelings with a breezy melody and the duo's sweet harmonies that will leave listeners smiling.
Dokyeom and Seungkwan will release their first mini album 'Soyagok' on January 12 at 6 p.m. KST, and on the 15th they'll unveil the first 'Blue' stage on Mnet M Countdown.
