Actor Kim Tae-ri is taking on her first-ever regular variety show since debut. The stage is tvN's variety show After-School Teacher Taeri, with actor Choi Hyun-wook and singer Kangnam joining her for an unexpected combo.
On the 20th, tvN stated, "The new reality-variety After-School Teacher Taeri is set to premiere on February 22," adding, "Centered around Kim Tae-ri, Choi Hyun-wook and Kangnam will serve as after-school theater club teachers at an elementary school."
After-School Teacher Taeri follows what unfolds when the only after-school theater class opens at a small elementary school in a quiet countryside village. Inspired by real cases where after-school programs brought new life to schools on the brink of closure, the show's key hook is a growth story created together by the kids and their teachers.
Through this program, Kim Tae-ri becomes a fixed member of a variety show for the first time, revealing a new side of herself. Having started acting in a college theater club, she will draw on experience across stage, dramas, and films to take on the role of an elementary school theater club teacher. All eyes are on how she'll communicate with the kids and lead the class.
The roles of assistant teachers Choi Hyun-wook and Kangnam also draw attention. Choi will act as the "theater club counselor," listening closely to even the smallest changes in the kids and, at times, showing delightfully clumsy charm to deliver natural laughs. Kangnam, with his trademark sociability, will be the class's "mood-maker," quickly lightening the atmosphere and becoming the glue that keeps the sessions running smoothly.
The production team commented, "The chaotic yet heartwarming theater class built together by three first-time teachers and elementary school students is the biggest charm of this program. Please watch the children's growth and change, and the adults' new challenges."
tvN's After-School Teacher Taeri premieres on February 22 at 7:40 p.m.
