Hollywood is remaking The Gangster, the Cop, the Devil, the crime film that starred Ma Dong-seok, and buzz is already building as global hitmaker James Wan is set to direct.
According to multiple outlets on the 11th (local time), Paramount Pictures has tapped James Wan to helm the Hollywood remake of The Gangster, the Cop, the Devil. Wan cemented his status as a genre heavyweight with horror landmark Saw and The Conjuring series, and he delivered massive worldwide box office with blockbusters Furious 7 and Aquaman.
In the remake, Ma Dong-seok is slated to reprise his lead role. He will not only star but also join the production through his company Big Punch Global.
Originally released in 2019, The Gangster, the Cop, the Devil is a crime action film where a gang boss, Jang Dong-su, teams up with a hard-nosed detective, Jung Tae-seok, to hunt down a serial killer. The film drew international attention the same year after being invited to the Cannes Film Festival’s Midnight Screening section.
